Welcome to BudgetOnGrid ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit and use our web application at budgetongrid.com (the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you sign up and use BudgetOnGrid, we may collect the following:
- Name collected during onboarding to personalize your experience.
- Country collected during onboarding to apply relevant regional settings.
- Financial preferences and goals collected during onboarding questionnaire (e.g., budgeting habits, financial objectives).
- Payment information processed securely by Dodo Payments. We do not store your card details or payment credentials on our servers.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically via Google Sign-In
We use Google OAuth 2.0 exclusively for authentication. When you sign in with Google, we receive:
- Your Google account email address
- Your Google profile name and profile picture (avatar)
- A unique Google user identifier (used to manage your account)
We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, or any other Google service beyond basic profile and authentication information. Our use of data received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
1.3 Usage Data We Collect
To improve the Service and manage feature credits, we collect limited, non-financial usage metrics, including:
- Total number of budget tables created
- Number of months budgeted
- Add-on credits consumed (e.g., AI import uses)
- Feature interaction counts (for product analytics)
This data contains no financial figures, transaction amounts, or personal financial records.
1.4 Bank Statements and Receipts (AI Import Feature)
BudgetOnGrid offers an optional feature that allows you to upload bank statements, receipts, or screenshots. These files are:
- Transmitted securely a third-party AI parsing service solely for the purpose of parsing and auto-categorizing your transactions.
- NOT stored on BudgetOnGrid servers. Files are processed in transit and discarded immediately after AI Parsing Service returns the parsed output.
- Never used to train AI models by BudgetOnGrid.
The parsed, categorized transaction data is stored locally on your device only. We never retain raw or processed financial data on our infrastructure.
1.5 Data Stored on Your Device
Your budget data including categories, transactions, spending records, and all financial entries is stored locally on your browser/device. BudgetOnGrid does not store your personal financial records on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your BudgetOnGrid account
- Authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In
- Personalize your onboarding and in-app experience
- Process your one-time payment ($7) and manage recurring add-on subscriptions ($5/month) through Dodo Payments
- Manage and track add-on credit usage
- Send you email notifications and budget alerts you have configured (bills, goals, spending limits)
- Improve, analyze, and develop the Service using anonymized usage statistics
- Respond to your support inquiries
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:
3.1 Service Providers
We engage trusted third-party providers to help operate BudgetOnGrid:
- Google (Authentication): We use Google OAuth 2.0 for sign-in. Google's Privacy Policy governs data handled by Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- AI Parsing Service (Document Parsing): Uploaded bank statements and receipts are sent to AI Parsing Service for parsing. Files are not retained after processing. Subject to Google's API Terms of Service.
- Dodo Payments (Payment Processing): Handles all payment transactions. We do not store payment card data. Subject to Dodo Payments' privacy terms.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BudgetOnGrid, our users, or others.
3.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice on the Service if such a transfer occurs.
4. Payments and Subscriptions
BudgetOnGrid offers:
- One-time payment of $7 to access the full product.
- Optional recurring add-ons at $5/month for premium features (e.g., additional AI import credits, exporting in excel format).
All payments are processed by Dodo Payments. You can manage or cancel your add-on subscription at any time through the Dodo Payments customer portal, accessible from within the app. We do not store your payment card information.

5. Data Retention
We retain your account information (name, country, Google ID, email, usage metrics) for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your financial and budget data is stored on your device and is not held by us. Uploaded documents processed through the AI import feature are not retained after processing.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
BudgetOnGrid uses minimal cookies necessary for the operation of the Service, including:
- Authentication session cookies to keep you logged in via Google OAuth.
- Preference cookies to remember your in-app settings.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking cookies. You may control cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling essential cookies may affect Service functionality.
7. Your Privacy Rights
7.1 For All Users
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time

7.3 CCPA Rights (California Users)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure OAuth 2.0 authentication, and limited server-side data storage. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because your financial data is stored locally on your device, we strongly encourage you to secure your device and browser with a password or passcode.
9. Children's Privacy
BudgetOnGrid is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We will update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and notify you via email or a prominent notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
